Accessibility
Built to be used by everyone.
We design and test this site to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and we treat accessibility feedback as a defect to fix, not a request to consider.
What we do
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a skip link to the main content.
- Text meets a 4.5:1 contrast ratio, and interface controls meet 3:1. The red mark is never the only way information is conveyed; a text label always accompanies it.
- Images carry text alternatives. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Forms have visible labels, described errors, and no time limits.
- Motion is reduced automatically when your system asks for reduced motion.
- The map of Canada is a set of real links with province names and counts in their accessible names, and every region is reachable by keyboard.
- Pages are readable at 200% zoom and on narrow screens without horizontal scrolling.
Known limitations
We have not yet had an external audit. Some development photos lack descriptive alternatives until commissioned photography replaces them.

The law
Checked Canadian is an Ontario company. The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act applies WCAG 2.0 AA website requirements to private organizations with 50 or more employees; the Accessible Canada Act applies to federally regulated entities. We are below those thresholds today and commit to the higher WCAG 2.1 AA standard regardless. See the full statement.
