How a check works

One product line, a few documents, a dated mark.

A check is not a plant visit and not a government certificate. It is a documented review of your cost breakdown against the threshold, by a reviewer who is independent of you and of any retailer.

  1. Send the cost breakdown and documents

    Materials and labour for one representative unit, split by origin, with supplier invoices, a bill of materials and a labour summary. Files stay private.

  2. A reviewer checks it against the threshold

    We confirm the documents support the numbers, the arithmetic clears 51% or 98%, and the last substantial transformation happened in Canada. Missing something? You get a specific request, not a rejection.

  3. The mark is issued and dated

    Your profile carries the red mark with the level and review date. A public record page lists what was reviewed, so any buyer or retailer can open it.

  4. Valid for 12 months

    Renew yearly with an updated breakdown. Expired marks come off the profile; the record stays.

What the mark means

Red means reviewed. Grey means somebody said so.

Only a passed review puts the red mark on a profile. It cannot be bought, sponsored or negotiated, and it always names the level and the year.

A grey Sponsored label is paid placement. A self-declared percentage is the plant’s own word. Neither one is the mark, and neither one ever sorts above a checked plant.
